In this work, I was motivated by the desire to write a symphonie-pastorale, but my outlook in music (and in life) is so utterly unpastoral that this is probably as close as I shall ever come.
Setting: 2 Flutes, 2 Oboes, 2 Clarinets, 2 Bassoons, 2 Horns, 2 Trumpets, 2 Timpani, Violin I, Violin II, Viola, Cello, Bass.
